Video Deconstruction

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wASs3pnfaGo This Piece I used an old project from COM 241.  The video describe the paranoia that people have of the concept of death.  This project definitely made me think about what I could do with this short movie of mine.  I soon thought that it could work perfectly as a horror short film.  This made the project some what easier because the footage worked so well as horror clips. So what I did was I completely made the footage black and white which gave the film a more ominous feeling.  I did not want to do much editing on the video itself, but focused more on the sound effects.  I think that the sound is the biggest part of horror films.  The fact that sound has a big part in what we fear is why I was focusing on it more. This project was one of the more enjoyable projects because we were able to create something from scratch and turn it into something more than what it started out as.  It also gave people the power to completely make somethin

Performance Art

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESW1cpQ31og For my performance art Steph, Kamryn and I went around handing out balloons to random people on campus.  I found this to be a lot of fun because even though many of the people were confused it brought a smile to their face.  It was cool to see that such a small gesture like just handing someone a ballon can bring them a little bit of happiness to their day.  See the way people looked at us just walking around campus with balloons was also pretty entertaining. Coming up with an idea for to do was probably one of the hardest part of the assignment.  Wr originally had a different idea and tried it out but it was not successful.  We then came up with the balloon idea which from the reactions we got from people they seemed to enjoy the small gesture of receiving a balloon. I enjoyed doing this project because it brought me out of my comfort zone by having to go up to people I did not know and have to interact with them.  I feel like this was

Music

Stevie Nicks is an American singer song writer who got here start in the 1970's.  She then joined the band Fleetwood Mac and that band is one of the most well know rock and roll bands of the 70's and 80's.  Stevie Nicks in her solo career wrote the song Edge of Seventeen  and the song is a written for her grieving over her uncle and helped the people of that time grieve or the murder of John Lennon.  I chose this song because this is a women helping basically the entire world have a way mourn over the loss of an icon and this just shows her power over music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn8-4tjPxD8 Led Zeppelin although is not considered a hardcore music. They were the first band to start the metal to hard rock era which eventually paved the way for hardcore rock groups around in the late 20th century and now the 21st century.  The song Black Dog which when it starts of it goes write into the high pitch singing of lead singer Robert Plant.   This is why I feel this

Xerox Project

Image
My project is a Giraffe which I did in the style Surrealism.  It took me a little bit to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with the parts of my body that I scanned.  I scanned both my left and right hand along with my fore arm and the side of my face which i cut my ears out of to become the eyes of the giraffe.  I originally had it being a palm tree but it started to look more like a an animal that would be in a painting of one of Dali's paintings.  This is when I decided to transform it into a giraffe.  The body of the giraffe is made out of my two palms.  I think that although is not what I intended it to be that this works much better than just a tree.

Grid Project

Image
This project was one of the most enjoyable out of all of the other projects for me.  This is because it was a lot of fun seeing the piece come together and start looking like the actual image.  I chose the Olympic rings because the Olympics have been a big part of my family for as long as I can remember.  It is also one of the most well known symbols in the world today because many almost every country in the world participates in The Olympic Games.

Flip Book

Image
This is my flip book and it is in the style of the old cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Looney Toons, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, etc.  I really enjoyed those type of cartoons as a kid because of my Dad and thats what he use to watch when he was little so it was cool to grow up with those cartoons.  I did my flip book in a copy of frankenstein that I had from last year which was very convenient.  This assignment also took me a lot longer than I expected it to this just gave me a new respect for the people who created cartoons like this without computers.
